I’ve been going through quite a few transitions this year: new jobs, new relationships, new friendsihps, new spiritual practices, new outlooks. I’m finding myself feeling “stuck” halfway between the past and the future that I have worked so hard to create. I’ve been chatting with Ryan about career and dreams for the future and taking the leap into Grad School seems it may be just the thing I need to propel me into the place I have been surching for for what seems like forever now.
The thought of homework and jam packed schedules doesn’t quite turn me on, but the thought of bringing my design and business skills to the next level excites me like there is no tomorrow!
I have been looking into design schools for the last few days, a couple of good options I have run across have been Academy of Art University’s top New Media and Web Design school and the California College of the Arts (a school I have been dreaming about since high school) has a new three-year dual-degree MFA/MBA in Design Strategy program. Both schools are in San Francisco, one of the only cities I could actually leave my beloved Boulder for.
I would say I’m most leaning towards Academy of the Art University. My interests have quickly moved past just doing graphic design for print and web and have become most interested in creating full media packages for companies and projects. This program seems like a great fit, and I may even be able to start classes online while I’m still living and working in Boulder.
I’m waiting for my information packet in the mail and will be able to get a better grasp of things once I look the materials over and possibly go for a campus visit. For now I’m happy for the excitement and anticipation that are arising in me. Here’s to the future!
